Joni Patry is a native Texan, born and raised in Dallas. She first became interested in astrology at the age of ten. A natural artist, she was a studio art major but then switched to study Psychology deciding her purpose was to help people. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in psychology. While earning her degree in Austin, she also pursued her passion of astrology. She started studying seriously under an astrologer at age 19 and became a professional astrologer four years later. Returning to Dallas, she worked as a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines while building her astrological consulting business. Travel and exploring the world is another passion! She has been married for 25 years to her high school sweetheart. Joni and her husband Daniel have three sons. She helps her husband run their family restaurant, Patry’s French Restaurant.
Joni’s search for meaning and enlightenment is revealed in her writings that seek out the universal truth and the eternal. She feels our purpose in living is to discover the mystery of life. Since childhood, she has explored the mystical and metaphysical searching to reveal our true reality. Her search for healing and spirituality led her to Vedic Astrology. Practiced mainly in India, Vedic astrology is based on Eastern philosophy, revealing our journey as a soul progressing towards enlightenment.
Eastern philosophy resonated to Joni for it explained the unexplainable. The Vedas, Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita are the bases of her spiritual philosophy. After reading The Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda she dedicated her life to develop spiritual awareness through the techniques and beliefs outlined in his book and lessons. She has been a member of Self Realization Fellowship (SRF), the organization founded by Yogananda, since the 1970s. Upon discovering Yogananda’s guru was a Vedic astrologer, Joni began her passionate search for meaning through Vedic astrology.
Astrology has been Joni’s main tool for self-discovery. It combines science, symbology and spirituality. Astrology also gives a sense of the Divine workings through the physical manifestation of this world.
Joni has attained the highest level of achievement in her field of Vedic astrology and is revered as one of the most recognized teachers and Vedic astrologers in America. Her writings are intended to inspire others to become aware of our true nature and to understand why we are here on this earth. We are all meant to inspire and teach the truth.
Joni has been a practicing astrologer and teacher for over 30 years. As founder and Director of the “Galactic Center” in Dallas, she built an astrological community through her classes, workshops and her website. She teaches students a comprehensive curriculum for certification as professional astrologers and maintains a busy consulting practice.

She has been the online Vedic Instructor for the Online College of Astrology, a western astrological certification program. She taught for the American College of Vedic astrology online program and is a faculty member for ACVA (American Council of Vedic Astrology). As the executive secretary for CVA (Council of Vedic Astrology), she published and distributed the International CVA Journal. Joni has organized the ACVA International Symposiums held in Hawaii. She initiated and organized the first national conference of its kind - Eastern Astrology for Western Minds.
Around the planet, Joni has presented at many national and international conferences including BAVA (British Association of Vedic Astrology), ISAR (International Society for Astrological Research), UAC (United Astrology Conference), ACVA (International Symposiums for the American Council of Vedic Astrology), Eastern Astrology for Western Minds Conference and the Blast.
In addition to being the keynote speaker for national and international conferences, Joni has been on national and local television and radio programs as an authority on both Western and Vedic astrology. Her clientele includes the Who's Who of America and Hollywood celebrities.
